Moortec’s thermal monitoring IP adopted in SSD controller chips

Moortec Semiconductor has announced that InnoGrit has chosen the company's 28nm thermal sensing solution to optimise performance and increase reliability for InnoGrit’s recently announced Shasta and Shasta+ SSD controllers aimed at client applications such as consumer electronics and IoT devices.

InnoGrit develops technologies that reduce the levels of computing power needed to store and transport data on networks by providing embedded monitoring of real time thermal conditions across the silicon die.

This helps optimise network activity versus power being supplied.

By applying tightly controlled thermal guard-banding schemes, device lifetimes can be extended, enabling schemes for shut-down protection, electro-migration management and the avoidance of thermal runaway effects.
