The WBZ451 Curiosity Board has been developed to provide engineers with an efficient and versatile development platform for prototyping wireless lighting, industrial automation, smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
The Curiosity Board can be used for prototyping and demonstrating the capabilities of Microchip's WBZ451PE Bluetooth Low Energy and Zigbee RF module. The WBZ451PE module is integrated into the board, and its signals are accessible through the onboard features.
The WBZ451 Curiosity Board comes preconfigured with an out-of-the-box, multi-protocol demo application with a temperature sensor, a current measurement header and an RGB LED.
It also offers integrated programming and debugging features using the PICkit Onboard 4 (PKOB4) debugger interface and requires only a micro-USB cable to power up and programme the board. The WBZ451 Curiosity Board also includes a mikroBUS Click header, which helps users to expand functionalities by connecting to various MikroElectronika, mikroBUS click boards.
The PIC32CX-BZ2 and WBZ45 family is a series of low-cost, general-purpose 32-bit microcontrollers and modules for wireless applications. The PIC32CX-BZ2 microcontrollers support multi-protocol wireless interfaces (Bluetooth and Zigbee) and have a hardware-based security accelerator, transceiver and power management unit (PMU).
The RF-certified WBZ45 modules combine the PIC32CX-BZ2 wireless microcontrollers with either a PCB or u.FL connector for external antennas.
