NEC targets motor control with expanded 32bit mcu range
NEC Electronics has added 15 devices to its 32bit All Flash V850 microcontroller range. Suited to inverter control and motor control applications, the parts meet the company's strategy of developing solutions that enable energy efficient products.
The additions, which operate at 100MHz, are said to offer increased performance compared with devices in the V850E/Ix3 range. They also feature up to 480kbyte of on chip flash, double the capacity of the V850E/Ix3 range. Other features include an on chip USB function interface, 20 a/d converter channels, additional op amps and analogue comparators.
Each device comes with an enhanced inverter timer (two units with six PWM outputs per unit) that can run at up to 100MHz. This, says NEC, suits the mcus for use with higher PWM drive frequencies and with higher inverter/motor control loop frequencies in smart appliances and factory automation equipment.
Samples of the new mcus are available now and mass production is scheduled to begin in December 2009.
