New ceo for EPSRC
Philip Nelson, a professor of acoustics at the University of Southampton, is taking over from David Delpy as the new chief executive of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
Prof Nelson will take up the role at the beginning of April for a four year appointment.
He joins EPSRC on secondment from Southampton University, where he was also Pro Vice- Chancellor.
"I feel greatly honoured to have been chosen for such an important national role," Nelson commented. "I am looking forward to working with colleagues across the research disciplines to ensure the continued health of the UK's world class science base, upon which so much of our future prosperity depends."
