During a live demonstration at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, Nvidia showed off the capabilities of its latest super chip in an Android tablet. According to Mike Rayfield, pictured, general manager of the company's mobile business unit, the 'next generation' chip, codenamed Kal-el, is the world's first quad core mobile processor and is able to provide about double the processing power of the Tegra 2.
The chipset has four cores, a 12core graphics processing unit and is able to support up to 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution as well as 1440 progressive video. Rayfield said the chip is expected to be in production by August 2011.
