Nvidia announces solid Q2 results, beats estimates
Nvidia has reported better than expected Q2 results following strong gpu sales. The chipmaker's quarterly revenues were up 5.7% to $1.02billion, from $962million in the previous quarter. Gross margin was 51.7%.
"We grew solidly this quarter," stated Jen-Hsun Huang, pictured, Nvidia president and ceo. "Consumer demand for notebooks powered by our GeForce gpu, with its unique Optimus technology, resulted in record revenue for these products."
Nvidia's second quarter results came in ahead of analysts' expectations, which called for the company to report sales of $1.01bn. For the third quarter, Nvidia expects sales between $1.06 and $1.08bn, above analysts' estimates of $1.05bn.
"The future of computing is mobile and visual," concluded Huang. "With Tegra's momentum and our growing gpu businesses, we are ideally positioned to lead the industry forward."
