Nvidia has signed a three year research collaboration agreement with Belgian research firm imec to join its core cmos programme as an INSITE member.
According to imec, the collaboration will focus on the system design impact of advanced devices, interconnect, 3d and lithography implications for the sub 20nm node. Nvidia will also get early insight into the impact of future process and design technology options on its next generation products.
"Our advanced cmos scaling offering for the product design community is gaining a lot of interest,"said Luc Van den hove, pictured, president and ceo of imec. "This collaboration once again confirms that our offering helps companies anticipate new technologies, so that they may design more advanced systems and applications, and put them on the market faster."
Van den hove also announced today an extended collaboration with Qualcomm on advanced 3d technology. Since 2008, the fabless chipmaker has participated in the imec industrial affiliation programme on 3d integration, providing it with early access to new 3d technologies for future wireless products.
"We are excited to have Qualcomm continue to broaden its relationship with imec after three years of successful collaboration," concluded Van den hove. "With INSITE we connect the technology research and design research communities and are expanding our ecosystem to include fabless and fab lite companies."
