NXP acquires Code Red Technologies

As part of a strategic move to expand its microcontroller business, NXP has entered into an agreement to acquire embedded software specialist Code Red Technologies.

The company, which has offices in Cambridge and San Francisco, offers a range of tools for the debugging of applications for 32bit ARM mcus, including LPCXpresso IDE – a low cost end to end development platform that lets embedded engineers create applications from initial evaluation through to final production. "Bringing the Code Red team into our organisation gives us the ability to jump start our in-house software expertise and deliver world class software libraries and integrated tools to our customers," said Jim Trent, vp and general manager of NXP's microcontroller business.
