OEM chip spending to climb 4% in 2013
After a flat 2012, global purchasing of semiconductors looks set to return to growth in 2013.

According to market research firm IHS, the total available market for semiconductor spending by major oems in 2013 will rise to $265.2billion this year, up 4.2% from $254.4bn in 2012.
Furthermore, spending by year end is expected to be at its highest level in six years, with expenditures in 2014 forecast to make another modest jump to $279.4bn.
Not surprisingly, IHS says the greatest share of spending this year will be in wireless communications.
Wireless alone is forecast to take a 26% share of total top oem semiconductor spending. It is also expected to be the highest growth market in 2013 after an annual projected expansion of 12.8%.
