Panasonic to scale back domestic semiconductor output
Panasonic is to scale back its domestic semiconductor output by the end of March 2012 and cut about 1000 jobs.
According to the Nikkei Business Daily, this reflects the company's recent move to reduce tv panel production.
The report states that all of Panasonic's five domestic chip manufacturing facilities will cut output. It adds that the company is likely to outsource more semiconductors from firms such as TSMC and boost its outsourcing ratio from the current 10% to around 35% within a few years.
