PC shipments forecast down
The growth forecast for worldwide pc shipments, previously forecast as 4.3%, has now been lowered to 0.7% by iSuppli.
The research firm added that global PC shipments slipped 1.5% in Q4 of 2008 from the previous quarter, compared with the double digit percentage growth typically seen in previous years.
Analyst Matthew Wilkins said: “"iSuppli expects an acceleration of decline in the desktop segment in 2009, along with a reduction of the growth rate in the notebook segment, leading to weak growth for the year. Although consumers around the world started to feel the full impact of the credit crisis in the third quarter of 2008, this phenomenon didn't negatively impact pc sales. However, by the fourth quarter, even the pc market succumbed to economic reality."
