Available in versions tailored for 3.3 or 5V controllers, the SiC769 is compliant with the DrMOS specification for voltage regulators in servers and desktop computers, graphics boards, workstations, game consoles, and other high power cpu based systems. The device enables operating frequencies in excess of 1MHz. Accepting input voltages ranging from 3 to 16V and delivering up to 35A of continuous output current, the part's power mosfets are optimised to produce outputs ranging from 0.8 to 2V. An advanced gate driver ic accepts a single pwm input from the VR controller and converts it into the high and low side mosfet gate drive signals. The pwm input is compatible with all controllers and especially designed to support controllers with a tristate pwm output function. The driver ic incorporates circuitry to detect light load conditions automatically and to enable skip mode operation automatically in systems that are designed to benefit from high light load efficiency. An adaptive dead time control helps to further improve efficiency. Protection features include UVLO, shoot through protection, and a thermal warning feature that alerts the system in case of an excessive junction temperature.
