Processors enable high performance, low power image recognition
Freescale has launched family of image cognition processors aimed at driver assistance systems. The SCP2200 family, which features CogniVue's APEX IP technology, is supplied with libraries, hardware and software development kits, giving engineers the tools they need to bring smart camera applications to market more quickly.
The SCP2200 family features a parallel image processing architecture that brings higher performance at lower clock rates than competitive devices.
Featuring an ARM926 based cpu, the processor can handle up to 34billion operations per second. It enables Mpeg4 and H.264 encoding at 30frame/s and can output video in a range of formats.
Ray Cornyn, Freescale's vice president of automotive microcontrollers, said: "The SCP2200 family provides highly integrated, cost effective solutions for smart automotive camera applications, whilst offering industry leading performance at very low power. This technology makes smart camera technology practical for most vehicle markets and provides significant safety benefits."
