Rohde & Schwarz buys network QoS specialist
Rohde & Schwarz has bought SwissQual, which specialises in measuring and assessing the quality of service (QoS) in wireless networks. The move is said by Rohde & Schwarz to allow it to address more fully the drive test market.
Dietmar Vahldiek, director of Rohde & Schwarz' systems and projects subdivision, said: "SwissQual will significantly increase the Rohde & Schwarz market share in the drive test segment. Together, we have excellent customer contacts and ... are very much looking forward to the closer cooperation." Both companies already have a sales partnership for the R&S ROMES2GO smartphone based test mobile phones developed by SwissQual.
The product portfolios of both companies are said to be complementary: Rohde & Schwarz says it is well positioned in the network optimisation and network engineering segments, while SwissQual contributes solutions for network benchmarking and network monitoring. The combined product portfolio will offer a range of solutions for QoS testing, end to end testing, drive test systems, scanners and wireless network optimization.
