The symbols and footprints can be used in all leading PCB design software environments, including DesignSpark PCB. Part models can be downloaded directly from the Technical Reference section of the RS website and, once selected, are available for immediate use and in the appropriate file format.
RS claims studies shown that up to 50% of an electronics design engineer’s time can be spent sourcing and managing data for component models. “These part libraries can represent significant savings for any maker or company developing electronic products,” said Cameron Ward, senior vice president of innovation at RS. “When used with a leading PCB design tool, it can mean an error-free design process.”
SamacSys’ managing director Alex MacDougall added: “The DesignSpark community and tool resource is an important and fast-growing initiative for electronics design engineers. This new library service available via RS brings the free SamacSys parts models to an even wider audience.”
