RS Components has been recognised for its achievements in supply chain performance at the 2011 Supply Chain Distinction Awards.
The Operational Excellence award was presented at the ceremony on June 15 in Berlin, Germany, in recognition of the company's significant achievements in planning and logistics, performance, service and satisfaction.
According to the organisers, the main criterion for the annual award was the demonstration of measurable achievements through strategic supply chain implementation, such as enhancing the bottom line, maximising customer satisfaction, reducing cost, increasing market share and gaining leadership position.
Over the past two years, RS has implemented a number of new innovations in a bid to improve its overall performance. The electronics distributor has worked to increase service provision to its customers, introduce formal forecasting and increase its new product introductions from 5000 a year to 5000 a month.
"We are delighted to win one of the most respected European supply chain awards," said Anne Bruggink, general manager, Supply Chain, Electrocomponents. "We have a vision to build a world class supply chain and this accolade demonstrates that we are well on the way to achieving this."
