Samsung beats LG in race to launch curved smartphone
Just days after rival LG said it would begin mass production of flexible oled display panels for its smartphones, Samsung has launched the first ever handset to feature a curved display screen.
The Galaxy Round will feature a 5.7in, full HD, Super AMOLED flexible display.
Samsung says the device will let users take advantage of round integration experiences like the Roll Effect (See video below), which enables information such as date, time, missed calls and remaining battery power to be viewed easily - even when the home screen is off.
The Galaxy Round will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on a 2.3GHz quad core processor, complete with 32GB or 64GB of internal memory.
The phone will also sport a 13MP rear facing camera and a 2MP front facing camera for video chat, as well as a 2,800mAh battery.
Exact pricing and availability were not disclosed.
