Serialiser could save up to 83% board space
Texas Instruments has launched what it describes as the first LVDS serialiser that connects directly to 1.8V powered processors.
According to TI, it offers the first glueless connection to low power embedded processors, saves up to 83% board space and supports HD resolutions.
The SN75LVDS83B has been designed to eliminate the need for a level shifter when using 1.8 and 2.5V logic interfaces. It supports 8bit colour and serialises rgb data, the consolidates 24 data lines into one LVDS clock and four LVDS data pairs which connect to lcd modules.
The serialiser supports applications such as netbooks, mobile internet devices, digital picture frames and others where an LVDS link from a processor to the lcd module is required. It supports a pixel frequency range from 10MHz up to HD screen resolutions of 135MHz and is compatible with a range of processors including OMAP35x applications processors and digital media processors based on TI's DaVinci technology.
