Software tuning on the fly

The latest release of Cypress’ PSoC Express version 3.0 design tool is set to dramatically simplify embedded design for PSoC mixed signal arrays.
The new release delivers real-time monitoring and tuning of designs, allowing designers to observe and improve the performance with Cypress’ CapSense touch sensing and EZ-Color High-Brightness LED (HB-LED) control solutions.
Version 3.0 also features a new user interface with the look and feel of Microsoft’s Visual Studio, enabling flexible window docking, drag and drop placement of drivers ‘on the fly’ and easy window switching.
“The aim of PSoC Express Version 3.0 is to include as many new general purpose functional drivers as possible, bring its appearance up to date and appeal to a larger audience,” explained Cypress UK’s principal field engineer, Chris Jones. “It will appeal to both software engineers involved in the programming detail, and system design engineers who don’t normally get too involved in the software. Users can start experimenting in programming and performing detailed work without the headache of drilling down into the depths of software debugging.
“PSoC Express’ graphical interface makes it very easy to put a system together,” he added. “You can describe devices very simply and it generates all the software for you.”
