Titan IC Systems, a spin out from the Institute of Electronics, Communications and Information Technology (ECIT) at Queen’s University Belfast, has won seedcorn funding worth £13,500 in an all Ireland business competition.
The company was formed in September 2007 to commercialise an ultra fast processor, capable of inspecting the content of packets of data streamed at up to 10Gbit/s over the next generation internet. The Regular Expression Processor (RXP) has been developed by Titan IC’s chief technical officer Dr Sakir Sezer (left in picture).
Chief executive Dr Godfrey Gaston (right in picture) says the RXP is the first 32bit datapath regular expression processor capable of processing POSIX/PCRE compatible regular expressions in parallel at line rates of up to 20Gbyte/s.
“The RXP is a revolutionary new technology capable of processing multiple characters and multiple regular expressions in parallel as concurrent tasks on multiple processing engines,” said Dr Gaston. “As we continue to work on its development, we are delighted to have won seedcorn funding from InterTradeIreland which has already resulted in significant interest from industry experts.”
