ST, Gemalto collaborate on secure solutions for NFC applications
STMicroelectronics and Gemalto have announced a partnership to develop and distribute digital security solutions for near field communications (NFC) applications.
The companies plan to further develop a number of additional packaged offers that include ST's ST33 EAL5+ chipset for mobile applications and Gemalto's secure operating system, mobile handset software, trusted service management and secure personalisation services.
"The combined turnkey solution will accelerate the adoption and implementation of NFC services, including consumer applications such as contactless payment, transportation ticketing, personal data protection and device integrity," said Marie France Florentin, gm, secure microcontrollers division, STMicroelectronics.
The embedded secure element adheres to the latest GP 2.2 and JavaCard 3.0.1 specifications, as well as Common Criteria EAL4+ and EMVCo certifications. Available in an SIP version combined with ST's ST21NFCA NFC controller, or as a stand alone secure element in DFN or micro SD packages, ST says it will offer a full range of free memory sizes up to 768Kbytes.
