Standardisation Group for Embedded Technologies inaugurated

Twenty three companies signed up to support the group's founding principles during the inaugural meeting, including Advantech, congatec, Data Modul, Kontron, MSC and Seco. "While there are many board manufacturers among the founding members, SGET also has a clear focus on tackling related issues such as software," noted SGET chairman Engelbert Hörmannsdorfer. A group of three members from any area can set up a standardisation working group, with SGET providing infrastructure to facilitate implementation of the standardisation idea. Hörmannsdorfer commented the first two working groups have in principle already been established and will convene before the end of June. The group says that other companies from the embedded computing industry are invited to join the association and contribute their ideas. The invitation extends to chip and connector manufacturers, research and educational institutions, embedded system integrators, OEM solution providers and industrial users.
