Students given chance to design electronics and win £5,000 of kit

A competition has been launched that challenges students to create innovative ideas using £5,000 of products from Farnell element14 to create an IoT-based product.

The ‘University IoT Challenge’, which aims to introduce electronics to university students, was been formed by Farnell element14 and Rohde & Schwarz and is looking for a creative idea that will positively impact individuals who need assistance in their everyday lives. Entrants should submit their ideas, including the bill of materials needed to build a prototype, online, here.

Farnell element14 will choose four finalists, which will then be put to a public vote on the element14 community.

“This competition will help make a great idea, that might not otherwise be developed, to become a real project,” comments Mathew Thorpe, regional sales director for UK and Ireland at Farnell element14.

Farnell element14 says that winners will receive:

  • The bill of materials for the project/idea
  • The balance of £5,000 to spend at uk.farnell.com
  • A bundle of test and measurement products from Rhode & Schwarz which includes 1 x RTC1000 Oscilloscope, 50 MHz, 2ch 8ch MSO and 1 x NGE102 Power supply
  • Support from Farnell element14’s team to help build and test your design

The competition closes on Friday May 4, 2018.
