Support the UK Electronics Alliance’s training bid by completing survey

Up to £240million is being made available under the Employer Ownership Pilot (EOP) to businesses and industry associations around the UK to help them create training programmes that address their specific skills needs.
Looking to take advantage of the opportunity, the UK Electronics Alliance (UKEA), in partnership with Semta, is planning to submit a bid to the EOP programme. If successful, the bid will result in substantial funds being available for the provision of training to those in all levels of the electronics industry – from technicians to those with PhDs.
According to UKCES, the pilot is all about changing the skills landscape for employers. It says it wants to create a more responsive system that helps employers to source the skills they need when they need them.
Charlie Mayfield, chair of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES), said the bids will take a number of forms, depending on the requirements of any given industry or locality. "For example, employers may come together to take end to end responsibility for workforce development in their industry; entrepreneurs may show how they can work collaboratively with colleges to deliver high quality learning and take responsibility for ensuring that it boosts local competitiveness; and employers may collaborate through supply chains to engage and empower smaller businesses."
To support its bid, UKEA is collecting information on skills training issues via an online survey. To provide your input, go to: https://www.snapsurveys.com/swh/surveylogin.asp?k=136145789211.
The survey closes on 19 March 2013.
