Test specialist launches early stage qualification division
1 min read
Looking to improve the product design cycle for its clients, test and assessment specialist TRaC has launched an Early Stage Qualification division. The move is said to offer a new way for the company to engage with existing and new clients by operating as an engineering consultancy.
The model will see TRaC working closely with design teams at an early stage in their product development cycles in order to build in the attributes that will be needed to ensure first time success at the testing, approvals and certification phase.
"While standards change," said TRaC's ceo Mark Heaven, pictured, "the way we deal with our customers has remained the same: testing at the back end of the project. Over the last year, we have begun engaging with them at an earlier stage and that has led to this development."
While TRaC ESQ will provide consultancy in the pre test stages of design, it won't be undertaking design. Heaven added: "To be clear, TRaC is not about to enter the design consultancy arena; product design, and optimising products' functional specifications, remains entirely the province of our customers' design teams. What we will add will be methodologies that we have refined over many years of testing virtually every class of technology based product."
ESQ will focus on assisting clients with those aspects of product design that affect safety, reliability and radio/telecoms standards interoperability.
"Compliance is not uppermost in people's minds," Heaven concluded. "We need to engage with them more authoritatively and tell them 'you can do better'.
