Toshiba launches development platform for embedded automotive designs
Toshiba has announced an evaluation and development platform for embedded systems which is targeted at automotive control where compliance with the ISO 26262 functional safety standard is required.
The IAR KickStart Kit is suitable for rapid development, prototyping and testing of designs built around Toshiba's TMPM354 ARM Cortex M mcu. With dedicated motor control and safety features, the company says it is ideal for automotive motion control applications in electric and hybrid vehicles.
The starter kit is designed to be used 'out of box' and comprises an evaluation board, integrated development environment software, a J Link hardware debug probe and example application code to speed development. As well as access to a target TMPM354F10TFG microcontroller, the board provides the jtag connection for programming/debugging, a dedicated motor control interface and CAN connectivity.
The TMPM354F10TFG microcontroller incorporates an advanced programmable motor driver and a vector engine for field orientated control or vector control that Toshiba says reduces cpu load by more than 50%.
