UK company addresses obsolete power supplies
QES has carved out a niche market for itself as a supplier of replacements for 'classic' power supplies from some of the best known names in the 1980s and 1990s.
The company specialises in providing power supplies for obsolete products such as the Weir HSS100 series, which was widely used by OEMs and system integrators.
QES has developed power supplies that can be used as direct replacements for these units. They mate with the same electrical and mechanical interfaces as the original units and, according to the supplier, have an equal or better electrical performance.
Paul Talbot, QES' managing director, said: "We have a customer that would have had to consider scrapping millions of pounds worth of complex control system if we had not come up with a direct replacement for Countant MML600 and 400 units."
Talbot added that QES addressed similar issues concerning spares quantities and the extended life over which electronic systems are being forced to work with.
