UK components market sees modest growth

Sales growth numbers for the electronics supply chain have been described as 'modest' by the Electronic Components Supply Network (ecsn).
The organisation has released performance figures for the month of June, which show the book to bill ratio went into negative territory for only the third time in the last 18 months.
"Member confidence that faster growth in the UK and Ireland electronic components markets would be seen in the first half of 2014 did not materialise, and growth was at the lower end of the forecast range" said ecsn chairman Adam Fletcher.
Fletcher did say, however, that the second half of this year would see a modest increase in growth, "which is plausible given that no significant events or increased demand drivers are currently visible".
Looking further ahead, Fletcher said that the three month moving average for all electronic components now suggests a 'growth' period, which he believes is likely to be reflected in the figures for July.
