Ultra small quartz crystal is 100% Pb-free
Seiko Instruments has added the ceramic SMD SC-32S to its range of quartz crystals.
This miniaturised, 32.768kHz quartz crystal is 100% Pb-free and suitable for automatic and high density surface mounting.
The device can be used as a precise clock generator for low power systems like watches and other real time clock applications, watchdog timers and for the secondary clock function of microprocessors in standby and sleep mode to minimise power consumption.
The SC-32S is the first model of new SCX Series with very small (3.2 x 1.5mm) and thin (0.75mm) package size. It is available with a load capacitance of 7, 9 or 12.5pF.
The quartz crystal uses a tuning-fork resonator processed in a photolithographic technology, which according to Seiko gives the device its reliability, low ageing (3ppm/year) and shock and heat resistance.
