Voltage comparators boast lowest current consumption
1 min read
An ultra low power voltage comparator that is said to consume one third of current for the same response time compared to competing devices has been announced by STMicroelectronics.
The new TS33 module is designed to achieve a propagation delay of 200ns while consuming 30µA of supply current, which is 66% lower than other solutions in the market. ST says this 'unmatched' energy efficiency allows customers to design products that use less power and have less impact on the environment.
The comparator is optimised to deliver a stable response time over a temperature range of -40 to 125°C and is said to offer superior ESD capabilities. It integrates an open drain output and rail to rail inputs with a voltage range from 1.6 to 5V. This is claimed to translate into greater design flexibility, enabling the integration of ST's comparator in 1.8, 3 and 5V systems.
Available in single, dual and quad versions in space saving SMD packages, the TS33 general purpose voltage comparator is targeted at signal conditioning applications in mobile communications, battery operated portable electronics and alarm and security systems.
