Website provides updates on supply chains impacted by Thai floods
element14 has developed a dedicated online space in a bid to provide real time updates on supply chains impacted by the flash floods in Thailand.
The site has been established as a central repository for the electronics industry, as well as a conduit for information flow.
As a result of the flooding a number of businesses in the region have closed, with the computer component sectors and automotive sectors being particularly affected. Thailand is also the world's second largest supplier of hard drives.
element14 says it will work with suppliers to help spread the reach of its updates as widely as possible in real time. Suppliers are posting updates on the anticipated impact of the disaster by product family and device type, including likely changes to lead times. There are also discussion threads enabling forum users to communicate with suppliers and other industry representatives.
