Wireless power transmitter IC halves BOMs says TI
Texas Instruments has launched its next generation bqTESLA wireless power transmitter IC, which it claims lowers the transmitter bill of materials by more than 50%, compared to existing solutions.
This, says the company, has been achieved by integrating the transmitter and supporting components into a single chip.
The IC has been designed to integrate the functionality required to safely and efficiently control wireless power transfer in a contactless charging base station. By utilising Wireless Power Consortium compliant inductive power transfer, the transmitter provides power to QI compliant portable devices such as smartphones, portable gaming systems, digital cameras and medical/industrial equipment.
The bq500210 wireless power transmitter is available now in a 7 x 7mm QFN package.
