‘World’s first’ Freescale i.3 processor DIMM module
Strategic Test has announced a Computer on Module (CoM) based on Freescale's multimedia processors. The TX53 module integrates an ARM Cortex A8-based Freescale multimedia processor i.MX53 with 1GHz clock speed. Due to the i.MX53's support of multistandard video with up to 1080p, the module is suitable for deployment in embedded applications with high performance demands on graphic, video and visualisation.
According to Strategic Test, the TX53 features a 10/100Mb/s Ethernet port with IEEE1588 support, two high speed USB 2.0 ports, along with two cameras and two CAN interfaces.
It is equipped with an lcd controller with up to 1600 x 1200 and a NEON SIMD Media Accelerator. The processor also integrates a hardware graphic accelerator, which supports OpenGL ES 2.0 and Open VG 1.1. As an option the module is available with a dual LVDS display interface. The module has dimensions of 2.6 x 1.2 x 0.16in and has up to 2 gigabytes of memory
Strategic says it is eying up the security and surveillance markets, for digital signage and automotive and test systems which require a great deal of computing power.
The TX53 module will become available in Q2 2011.
