WSTS upgrades expectations
Following what it describes as a ‘strong’ third quarter, World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) has upgraded its 2007 forecast. Now, the organisation expects sales this year to reach $257.2billion – an increase of 3.8% over last year.
“WSTS foresees continuously growing demand for electronic products such as pcs, digital consumer appliances and mobile communications, enhanced by the increase of semiconductor content per installed system,” said Toshio Ogawa, worldwide chairman of WSTS. “These trends are expected to unfold in a challenging, yet generally healthy world economy.”
WSTS has not changed its projections for 2008 and 2009, expecting sales to grow by 9.1 and 6.2% respectively.
