Zetex acquired in £91m deal

According to the directors of both companies, the deal will strengthen their position as a global provider of analogue and discrete semiconductor solutions to a range of markets. Hans Rohrer, Zetex’ ceo, pictured, commented: “We are delighted to make this announcement. Diodes is an acknowledged leader in the global discrete and analogue semiconductor markets. The businesses are remarkably complementary in a number of respects, not least in product range and sector focus. The combination of the two companies will create a very strong product portfolio and enable us to accelerate our growth in Asia Pacific whilst Diodes will benefit from our strength in Europe. The advantages to our customers and employees of a larger organisation in terms of selling, manufacturing and product development are clear.” Once the deal is concluded, probably in June, the combined group will be four times the size of Zetex, with greater resources at its disposal. Dr Keh-Shew Lu, Diodes’ president and ceo, added: “Zetex will contribute a range of new discrete and analogue products and capabilities that will aid deeper penetration of our key end markets, including consumer, computing and communications.”
