ADM1275 hot swap controller and power monitor
Analog Devices has launched the ADM1275 hot swap controller and power monitor for 2 - 20V input supplies. The new technology has been designed to lower system cost, save board space and improve system reliability. It is also said to provide 'best in class' power monitoring accuracy of 0.7% current sense accuracy, with 20mV insertion loss when compared to alternative solutions.
According to ADI, the ADM1275 enables accurate measurement of incoming power, allowing the system to take intelligent actions to reduce power consumption. System reliability is said to be improved by limiting inrush current during power up and enabling faster shutdown whenever an over current event happens.
Analog claims that over and under voltage monitoring of the back plane voltage ensures circuit boards only operate when the backplane voltage is within specification. The new device is also said to feature current and voltage readback via an integrated 12bit analogue to digital converter (ADC), communicated through a PMBus interface.
