Audio amplifier cuts space in portable products
Diodes has introduced a new family of low noise, 3W Class-D audio amplifiers. Available in ultra small QFN1515-9L packages, the devices are designed to support the miniaturisation of portable products such as MP3 players, tablets and smartphones.
Providing two alternative pin-outs to help simplify board layouts, the PAM8013 and PAM8015 each measure 1.5 x 1.5 x 0.75mm and use a filterless output architecture to minimise the number of external components and total PCB footprint.
The amplifiers provide audio system designers with a differential input and assure low noise performance, high PSRR and good THD+N figures. Output power capability is high as well, at 3W for a 5V supply into a 4O speaker.
The devices feature a wide 2.8 to 5.5V supply voltage operating range to support a variety of different battery cell configurations. With an efficiency rating of 90% and a shutdown current less than 1µA, the amplifiers also help maximise system battery life.
