The monochrome TFT display produces images that are legible and clear in both indoor and outdoor applications due to its contrast ratio of 1200:1 and a LED backlight with a brightness rating of 1500cd/m². The LED backlight is said to have a specified 40K hour half brightness lifetime. The display also exhibits some reflective properties, due to the absence of a colour filter, which enables a reduction in power consumption if the backlight is dimmed.
Monochrome TFT is claimed to provide operating stability over a wide operating temperature range and requires no additional temperature compensation circuitry when compared with Monochrome STN technology.
The display module has mechanical outline dimensions of 131 x 104.2 x 7.8mm, an active display area of 115.2 x 86.4mm and weighs 120g. A 40-pin data connector supports an industry standard 8080-series MPU 8-bit parallel interface.
