Crystal units offer improved frequency tolerance
A new range of crystal units has been introduced by Murata. Based on the company's XRCGB-F family, the XRCGB-F-P devices are said to offer significantly improved frequency tolerance and temperature characteristics, allowing engineers to specify them for use in a range of consumer and industrial applications.
With a frequency tolerance of +/-20ppm (at 25°C), and frequency shift of +/-20ppm max (-30 to 85°C), the crystal units are particularly suitable for use in 802.1.wireless connectivity designs using protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy and ZigBee.
Compared to previous crystal units that had a combined tolerance of +/-70ppm, the +/-40ppm units represent close to a 43% improvement in total tolerance.
In addition, the XRCGB-F-P devices come in a 2016 package, making them suitable for second sourcing.
