Intended for 48V-to-12V hybrid battery systems in e-mobility applications the 48S12.750BCE provides a high-side voltage range of 32 – 63.2V, and the low-side range is 6 – 16V. According to Calex efficiency is up to 96.7%.

According to Relec the converter has been designed to better manage energy between the main battery and auxiliary systems efficiently, while its bi-directional functionality enables seamless charging of the 12V battery during standard operation, while also assisting or charging the 48V battery during emergencies.

The converter is air-cooled and it measures 123 x 177 x 44.5mm and is sealed to IP67 against dust and water.

With sufficient cooling, operation is over -40 to +100°C, although convection cooling is only possible up to +75°C, above which air needs to be forced over the fins.

There is a CAN 2.0b interface, and the manufacturer recommends monitoring the internal PCB temperature via CAN to ensure that it remains below 110°C. At 123°C the converter latches off.

System data monitoring, setting adjustment and control. Remote on-off is via CAN of a dedicated pin.
