Hybrid connector simplifies servo drive connection
Tyco Electronics has designed a Motorman hybrid connector to simplify the connection of power and signal of locally controlled motors.
It is said to integrate communication, signal and power transmission within a compact single connector and therefore requires only one cable for connection. The connector features two fast Ethernet interfaces which have been designed to provide the full benefits of real time automation control, while reducing cabling complexity. The new device is also said to offer space for five power sockets, five signal sockets and one protection earth contact. It measures 41.5 x 22.3mm in size.
According to Tyco Electronics, a guided lever locks the connector housing onto the motor pcb and is easily opened from the side of the assembly. As the contact insert can be rotated by 180°, the cable can exit in two directions. The side access is said to enable simple assembly and make it easier to locate faults.
