Molex unveils vertical pcb launch configuration for high speed digital testing

Molex has launched the Precision 2.4mm compression mount test connectors, which form what it claims is the industry's only vertical pcb launch configuration operating to 50GHz.
The vertical pcb launch configuration gives the Precision 2.4mm compression mount test connectors a smaller footprint and the option to be mounted anywhere on the pcb for increased density. The compression mount design also eliminates soldering, which results in reduced installation time.
"The Molex Precision 2.4mm compression mount test connectors are ideal in next generation data and telecommunication applications where design flexibility is critical," said Roger Kauffman, marketing and sales manager at Molex. "Both the vertical profile and compression mount feature allow customers to create test points virtually anywhere on the pcb so that they can maximise the space when designing today's high speed digital test boards."
The configuration can accommodate a range of board thicknesses, including 0.57 to 2.79mm, and provides a continuous ground connection between the connector and pcb. An integrated centre pin design allows 1.2:1 VSWR at 50GHz to provide low reflections for accurate measurements. Molex says the stainless steel body can withstand over 500 mating cycles.
