These new stack heights will enable designers to optimise the use of space in PCB and device design by enabling a broad range of PCB spacings from 8 to 20 mm.
The new stack heights add further to the flexibility provided by the har-flex PCB connector family, which already offers a wide range of pole counts, fixings, design heights and reliable parameters for soldering.
The PCB spacings are achieved by the use of straight male connectors with a stack height of 4.85 mm and female connectors with a stack height of 13.65 mm. These are complemented by har-flex IDC ribbon cable connector assemblies to allow for the wider spacing between PCBs.
The resulting flexibility is essential because every instance of industrial device design is unique and each piece of housing needs to allow for different sizes, formats and requirements, with the PCBs inside the unit designed to offset other space factors.
Each PCB must include a defined position for interfaces to the housing wall or other electronic components and these will vary according to the device and its application.
