Pulse Electronics has introduced a new low profile antenna for LTE enabled tablet devices.
The switchable antenna is 1mm high and is designed to enable four states for low band: 700 to 750MHz (LTE low), 750 to 790MHz (LTE high), 820 to 900MHz (GSM850), and 880 to 960MHz (GSM900). According to Pulse, it also covers 1800/1900/2100 for high band applications, with switching implemented directly from the device's display area.
"Pulse Electronics' new antenna makes switching frequencies easy, is only 1mm high and provides high performance for mobile connected pcs," said Maritta Timosaari, director of sales and marketing for Pulse Electronics.
According to Timosaari, the antenna can be adjusted for various display sizes, as long as good grounding to the display shield can be provided. Because the antenna pattern is basically planar, it can be installed at the furthest point from the body, which makes it suitable for SAR sensitive applications.
The antenna is compatible with metal tablet holders and with several antenna manufacturing technologies, such as LDS, flex, and sheet metal. The switch is a Sony SP4T.
