Providing standard bandwidths of 600 MHz, 1 GHz and 2 GHz (for 2 channels) and a maximum sampling rate of 10 GS/s, the MSO8000 series is intended for fast signal acquisition and analysis. Typical applications include automated testing in factories, protocol analysis for serial buses in vehicle electronics, measurement of electronic circuits, switching performance measurements and analysis in the power domain.
The MSO8000 series has gained a number of improvements and functions with the latest official firmware version.
When using web control, the screen refresh rate has been increased, which makes display and operation easier. For example, to create the zone trigger, users can simply define the required field with the mouse using the web control. In addition, Rigol has revised the driver for the 10.1-inch colour touch display, which simplifies operation. At the same time, the display quality of the signal trace in XY mode has been significantly optimised.
In order to improve the overview during the measurement, Rigol has implemented the mathematical application in such a way that the channel used for this can be switched off so that only the mathematical trace (e.g. the FFT with up to one million samples) is visible on the screen. The already diverse decoding options have been expanded to include CAN FD decoding in these devices.
500 Mpts (standard) memory depth is available for the acquisition and processing of large amounts of data. Using the recording function, this memory can be increased to 900 Mpts by segmentation (e.g. 9 frames of 100 Mpts each) or by setting a small memory, recording and playback of signals up to 450,000 frames can be achieved.
The measurement methods of the instruments include real-time eye diagram and jitter analysis software, whereby the display of the jitter trend is particularly noteworthy in combination with the histogram for digital analysis.
A wide variety of trigger, math and display options (mask test and power analysis) as well as an integrated signal search function are available like all the usual serial bus protocol analysis and trigger functions. An integrated voltmeter, frequency counter and an optional 2-channel arbitrary function generator complete the range of measurements of this X-in-1 device. Various interfaces such as USB host, USB device, HDMI, LAN, USB GPIB (adapter) and AUX OUT are also available.
An extensive range of accessories including active and passive probes, high-voltage probes and 19-inch mounting frames, software drivers for well-known packages and high-level languages, and the free UltraScope operating software are also available.
