Safety standard certified ceramic capacitors target automotive applications
Murata has launched a new series of ceramic capacitors, specifically designed for automotive applications and certified to meet the safety standards required in such operating environments.
The DE6 devices are coated with an insulating resin material that is optimised to improve the temperature resistance cycle performance. According to Murata, it allows the capacitors to endure -55 to 125°C temperature cycles. As well as a 300Vac voltage rating, the units make use of a flame retardant epoxy resin that is compliant with the UL94V-0 flammability standard. In addition, the X1/Y2 class products comply with UL and ENEC safety standards.
While meeting the criteria for safety and vehicle mounted applications, the devices are suited for use in the ac line filters of the vehicle mounted chargers found in plug in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles.
