Infineon claims that its BCR430U provides industry-leading drop performance for regulating LED current in standalone operation. In addition, it says that no external power transistor is required. The voltage drop at the integrated driver IC can go down to 135mV at 50mA, providing flexibility in lighting design. The LED driver current ranges between 5mA and 100mA and is adjustable via a high ohmic resistor on a dedicated pin.
Operating from a supply voltage in the range from 6 and 42V, the device is said to include an over-temperature controlling circuit which can reduce the LED current when the junction temperature becomes too high.
