USB touchscreen controller is analogue resistive
Microchip has announced the mTouch AR1100 analogue resistive usb touchscreen controller. The plug and play device is said to offer advanced calibration capabilities as a usb mouse or single input digitiser.
Available as a turnkey chip or board product, the controller supports 4, 5 and 8wire touch screens, with free drivers for most major operating systems. It provides a drop in touch controller for designers to universally support their entire standard resistive touch portfolio.
Advanced calibration options are available for alignment and linearisation, which Microchip claims enables highly accurate button pressing for critical applications with tight board spacing.
The AR1100 controller is available in 20pin SOIC, SSOP and QFN packages and is also available as a board product. It is targeted at low cost embedded applications using I2C, SPI or UART communications.
