Display specialist Electronic Assembly has introduced a new range of alphanumeric displays for use in industrial and commercial applications.
The EA DOG series of high contrast, super twist lcd displays is operable from 3.3 to 5V and is said to eliminate the need for negative auxiliary voltage. According to the company, this allows designers to keep their power supply simple and economical.
The display and illumination units can be ordered separately, making it possible to implement numerous designs with different sizes and colours. Customers can choose from three display units and six led background illumination schemes, including one that covers the entire RGB colour spectrum.
Three display units are offered for viewing one, two, or three rows of data, with different font sizes available as well. Two separate led paths are offered for the unicolour illumination schemes and can be connected in series or parallel. The illumination unit can be operated using a 3.3 or 5V power supply.
An ST 7036 display controller is included in all display units. 4bit, 8bit, and SPI interfaces are offered. The operating range for the displays is between -20 and 70°C, making them compatible with industrial applications. All variants can be ordered in quantities of one or more.
