Driving Functional Safety in Automotive and Industrial Systems

The focus on safety for critical applications in both automotive and industrial markets is signifi-cantly increasing as applications depend on more electronic systems to solve complex problems in real time. Failure of these mission-critical systems is not an option and must be avoided. In the automotive industry, the ISO 26262 safety standard sets the requirements for designing safe systems, and IEC 61508 standards specify requirements for industrial control systems. This paper provides an overview of the various safety features integrated into Cypress’ Semper NOR Flash solutions that simplify system-level functional safety design.
